This training is 3 hours in length and is intended for businesses and organizations that provide services to the public. This session includes a thorough trans-101 introduction, and expands on that to focus on issues of accessibility, inclusivity, and professional etiquette within organizations. Trans Inclusivity in Employment Services

This training is designed for employment service organizations seeking to improve the gender inclusivity of their services. Trans and gender-variant people experience many unique and often invisible barriers when it comes to seeking, securing, and retaining employment, and even accessing services that would aid them in doing so. This training will explore and address some of those barriers, as well as providing staff with in-depth 101 information to better understand trans and gender-variant identities and experiences, and develop good professional etiquette when working with transgender clients. This training is specifically designed for sexual assault centers, to educate staff and volunteers and improve trans inclusivity in spaces for survivors that are typically women-centered. This training includes a thorough trans-101 introduction and analysis of the social roots of transphobic violence. We will also explore trans experiences with intimate partner violence, and unique barriers trans and gender-variant people often experience when accessing victim services and supports. We will assess barriers trans people may experience when accessing services at your SAC, and create a plan to improve your organization’s trans inclusivity practices. Testimonials

“Lane’s training opened our eyes to a new way of thinking about and welcoming our clients who are Trans. The resources were great and Lane’s presentation was very user-friendly and made us all feel as if we could ask questions in a safe environment.” Janet Hainsworth, Site Coordinator, Employment North Gravenhurst

“Lane Patriquin is a highly effective and engaging facilitator. Their transgender allyship workshop was thought-provoking and very informative; we all left the presentation with new insight and understanding. I would recommend their services to anyone looking to learn about transgender issues or develop better inclusivity towards trans and gender-variant people in their organization.” Chris McConnell, President, OPSEU Local 317

“I would highly recommend Lane’s session for many workplaces.  Lane created a safe space in which to explore topics many cisgender people have questions about, but may be unsure asking.  Lane offered us concrete ideas to create an inclusive agency for trans and non binary people.  This workshop is reasonably priced and the knowledge is a great asset for our team.” Lauren Power, Executive Director, Muskoka Parry Sound Sexual Assault Service

“I am thrilled with the Trans and Gender Diverse Allyship Training Lane delivered for our organization. Lane’s facilitation style was articulate, engaging and relatable. They were able to make the workshop accessible to participants with varying levels of familiarity with the topic, without compromising the integrity of the content- no easy feat! The historical perspective Lane provided and the way they connected it to current struggles really helped to contextualize the issues. They were able to strike an excellent balance of theoretical knowledge, personal experience, and practical applications. The intersectional framework Lane used for this teaching ensured that Times Change is not only in a much better position to serve trans and gender diverse clients, we are also able to improve services for folks who experience all types of oppression.” Katie Berger, Program Coordinator, Times Change Women’s Employment Service
